Obituary
Leona Endora [Eudora] Polley, daughter of Edwin [Franklin] and Diantha [Jane Hoover] Polley, was born in the state of Nebraska Sept. 2, 1874, and died at her home in Blockton, Jan. 17, 1940, having reached the age of 65 years, 4 months and 15 days.
At an early age she moved with her parents to the vicinity of Maloy where she spent her girlhood.
On Feb. 28, 1897, she became the wife of [Robert] Edgar Thompson whose loving and faithful companion she was for almost 43 years. They established their first home in Maloy. Here they spent eight years, then moved to Blockton where they have lived since that time.
She was a devoted Christian woman, having united with the church while quite young. Her first thoughts were for her home, her loved ones, and the church. To these she gave many patient hours, being always happy in the service and ever found in her place of duty as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by her devoted husband; three sisters, Cora Turner, Denver, Colorado; Minnie Poore, Clarinda, and Lula Skinner, Maloy, and one brother Guy Polley, of Maloy. Her parents and two brothers, William and Charley preceded her in death.
Besides the immediate family she leaves a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
Funeral services were held at the Blockton Christian church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. Max Buck, pastor of the Bedford Christian church, and burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery, Blockton.
