Final Rites Are Held Fri. for Lute B. Taylor
Funeral services were held here Nov. 20 for Luther Bent Taylor, 81, long time local clothier and businessman, who died here last Thursday.
"Lute", son of R. [obert] A. [tkinson] and Martha [Ann Miller] Taylor, who was born on a farm northeast of Bedford June 20, 1893, worked as a young man for various local firms including the R. W. Thompson Clothing Store and later Fuller and Scane Clothing Company. He liked to sell men's furnishings and formed a partnership with the late Ren H. Fuller in the Fuller and Taylor Clothing Store, a firm that was located on Main Street for many years serving the needs of men and boys, until his retirement.
On Oct. 3, 1912 he was united in marriage to Beulah M. [artha] Laird and to them were born, a daughter Maxine who passed away at birth, a son Max of California and Martha of the home; he also leaves surviving sisters, Mrs. Mehitabel Martin of Bedford, Mrs. Tressie Hart of Ft. Collins, Colo., Mrs. Lottie Gooding of Bedford and brothers, Alfred A. [delbert] Taylor and Charles S.[wain] Taylor of Bedford and nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He united with the Presbyterian Church of Bedford, Iowa on February 4, 1900, and he was a member of Taylor Lodge No. 156 A. F. & A. M. of Bedford, and received his 50-year pin December 6, 1956.
Lute was a kind and loving husband and father, friend and neighbor.
Final rites were held in Fairview Cemetery following the service held at the west Shum-Novinger Funeral Home with Carl Cummings and Rev. John Kerr officiating.
