The Henderson Daily News of February 26, 1963 carried the following article: Murder Charges Filed Against Letty Warren “ District Attorney William Ferguson filed murder with malice charges against Mrs. Letty Warren, 43, of Rt. 3, Overton, Tuesday morning. Mrs. Warren is charged with shooting her husband with a 20-gauge shotgun from short range Feb 6 about 9:30 p. m. at their home on Farm Road 850 east of Overton. Warren died in the Veterans Hospital in Dallas, Monday night at 8:45 p.m. as a result of the gunshot wounds, according to Ferguson. Rusk County Sheriff Pete Gibson reported on the night of the shooting that Warren was rushed to Henderson Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment. A few days later he was transferred to the VA Hospital in Dallas. On Feb. 7, Mrs. Warren was charged with assault with intent to murder, but after her husband died Monday night a new charge was filed against her. Mrs. Warren was slated to be arrested today by the Sheriff’s office on the new charges. She has been on bail since the shooting mishap. Sheriff Gibson reported that the shooting Feb. 6 took place in the Warren’s home during a family fracas. Warren was wounded from the shots in the chest, arms and legs, Gibson said. “ Wife Letty Morine Warren died Oct 21, 1974 in Longview, Gregg Co TX, informant her grandson Paul M. Funeral services for Robert J. Warren, 33, of Route 3, Overton, Rusk Co TX, who died Monday at the VA Hospital in Dallas at 8:45 p.m. will be held at the Crawford-A. Crim Chapel at 4 p.m. Wed with the Rev. Ed B. Bowles and Rev. Raymond D. Laver officiating. Warren was a truck driver for the Johnson Lumber Company in Henderson. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Letty Warren of Overton; his mother, Mrs. Mamie Warren of Henderson, one son, Robert Warren of Overton; three brothers, J.C. Warren of Overton; Homer Warren of Ft. Worth and Floyd Warren of Inglewood, CA; three sisters, Mrs. Kate Alexander of Overton, Mrs. Georgia Alexander of Overton, and Mr. Marie Hall of Henderson. Interment will be in the Pirtle Baptist Cemetery."
