CASS CITY CHRONICLE, FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, 1906, page 5, "Rescue"
John and Silas McAlpine of Caro attended the funeral of their brother, B. McAlpine.
Again the death angel has visited our neighborhood and taken from our midst a loving father, in the person of Benjamin McAlpine. Although he has not been well all summer, he has been confined to his bed only two weeks, failing very rapidly until Friday when he passed away. He lost one of his hands in a corn shredder about three years ago and has never been strong since. He was widely known and highly respected for his many good qualities. He leaves a wife, five sons and one daughter, besides many friends and neighbors to mourn his departure.

CASS CITY CHRONICLE, FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, 1906, page 5, "Beauley"
The funeral of Ben McAlpine of Rescue on Sunday was largely attended. Many mourn his death as the loss of a citizen and friend. Rev. Earl, who preached the funeral sermon, spoke very impressively.
