Lee Moore, resident of Wyoming for half a century, died unexpectedly late Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 7, 1928) at the Ogallala ranch at Ross. Lee Moore was one of the best known stockmen in the state. He was a native of Texas, having been born in Milam County in that state January 1, 1856, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Moore. When a young man he helped trail a herd of cattle from Texas to Wyoming and this state had been his home since. In 1878 he located a ranch on Lightning Creek and for many years was engaged in the cattle business there. Later he disposed of his holdings here and moved to Diamond in Platte County. In Platte County he was a member of the Board of County Commissioners and in 1923 was elected Secretary of the State Board of Livestock Commissioners. He retired from the office last April, since which time he had been living at the Ogallala ranch. Mr. Moore was married to Miss Amanda Thomas at Taylor, Texas in January, 1883. She survives him. Surviving also are four children, Leroy of Douglas, Mrs. W. Paxton Irvine and Floyd of Lusk and Neeley of Sacramento, California. (Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget Feb. 9, 1928 and mortuary records by Betty Alberts, FAG Member #47293729.)
