Clifford W. Phillips Sr., 69, Excelsior Springs, died Feb. 8, 1989, at Veterans Hospital. He was born in Overland Park, Kan. and lived in the Excelsior Springs area 25 years. Mr. Phillips was a mechanic and welder for Kansas City International Airport before he retired. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Goodland. He was a member of the De Witt (MO.) Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve "Jenny" Phillips of the home; four sons, Clifford W. Phillips Jr., Fred Phillips and Robert Phillips of Excelsior Springs and Edwin Phillips, Trimble, MO; two daughters, Saundra Gaines, Holt, MO., and Judy Vanderford, Excelsior Springs, three brothers, George Phillips and Paul Phillips of Goodland and Fred Phillips, Mill City, Kan.; three sisters, Josephine Cris??, Englewood, Colo., Elise Baker, Goodland and Beulah Bergachmerdn, El Cajon, Calif.; and 17 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Falls Baptist Church, near Excelsior Springs; burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Prichard Chapel, Excelsior Springs. Th efamily requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society of the American Heart Association.
