She was married (and divorced) to Elzie McGrady after Edward Rossie died.Niccie Rossie died Saturday, January 3, 1998, at Columbia Putnam Medical Center following a short illness.
A native Floridian, she was born in Seville, Fla., on Jan.10, 1907. She moved to Crescent City 53 years ago from Seville. She had worked at the Pic-N-Save in Crescent City as a supervisor and was a member of First Baptist Church of Crescent City and had also attended the Pentecostal Church in Seville.
She was preceded in death by her sons, William K. Rossie, Edward Stomper Rossie; daughters, Ruby Roddenberry and Lillie Dixon.
She is survived by her son, Wilton James Rossie of Crescent City; daughter, Eva Mae Walker of Crescent City; step-daughters, Linda Vaughn of Fort Worth, Texas, Vera Ignos of Crescent City and Bonnie McGrady of Fayetteville, N.C.; brothers, LeRoy Cohen of Seville and Harold Cohen of Welaka; sisters, Zylphia Peacock and Alice Cohen, both of Pierson, Fla., Mildred Goodwin of Enterprise, Fla. and Genevan Bradley of Seville; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Clayton Frank and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Sylvester Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Cemetery in Seville. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 5 Jan 1998.)
