Mr. E.L. Nunn was nearly 85 years old, having been born May 24, 1842, a native of Crittenden County, was born and reared in the Bells Mines community, and made his home there until his retirement about 20 years ago. He was a successful farmer and a large landowner.
In 1870 Mr. Nunn was married to Miss Maria Phillips, uniting two of the oldest families in West Kentucky. She was the mother of all his children. For many years Mr. Nunn was prominent in affairs of his county, church and lodge. He was at the time of his death a member of the Marion Methodist Church. He served in the War between the States from 1862 to 1865 in Gen. Forrest's Division of the Confederate Army.
Mr. Nunn is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Ellen Travis; two sons, W.J. Nunn, of this county, and L.C. Nunn, of Columbia, Louisiana; six daughters, Misses Clara and Ina Nunn, who have been making their home with their father; Mrs. C.W. Lamb and Mrs. Coleman Foster, of Marion; Mrs. W. U. Hughes, of the county, and Mrs. W.O. Shouse, of Union County.
Burial was at the Nunn Cemetery near Baker Church with the Masonic Lodge of Marion in charge of the services.
