LASALLE - Jason T. Walter, 7 years old, of LaSalle died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, in rural Varna. He was killed when he was attacked by four dogs.
Jason was born July 12, 2003, in California, the son of Diane Walter.
He attended second grade at Northwest School in LaSalle. He was not involved in sports but loved to watch NASCAR and his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.
Surviving are his mother and 2 1/2-year-old brother, Preston, at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Grace) Walter of Standard, Ill.; aunts, Dawn Rose of Florida, and Tammy Weber and Tracy Walter, both of Montgomery, Ill.; uncle, Larry Walter of Missouri; and numerous great-aunts and -uncles.
Jason was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Christine Walter in 1993; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Walter of Spring Valley, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Victor Renken of Minooka, Ill., and Eleanor Moran of Oglesby, Ill.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Dysart Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville. The Rev. Al Lewis of the First Congregational Church in LaSalle will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel, with additional visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Pallbearers will be uncle Larry Walter, uncle Ernie Gallop, friend Mark Baster, and friend Casey Schoepke. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy and Tommy Renken.
Memorials may be made to Northwest School in his memory.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Hennepin.
