One of eight children born to parents Michael Peter, Sr. and wife Margaret Wirth. According to the passenger list for their immigration from Germany to New York (found on ancestry.com) , they arrived in New York City on ship "Franklin" August 30, 1837. Elizabeth was born September 29 this same year, so it is obvious she was not born while they were at sea as her obit (see below) mentions.

DEATH CALLS AGED WOMAN

MRS. PETER KEEPES OF ST. SEBASTIAN VICINITY CALLED BY DEATH
AT AGE OF 82 YEARS

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning from St. Sebastian Church

Mrs. Elizabeth Keepes, widow of the late Peter P. Keepes, of St. Sebastlan neighborhood, died at 1:45 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. She had been ill since about the first of May. Death was due to complications and the Infirmaties of old age. Mrs. Keepes was widely known and was highly esteemed by all who knew her.

The deceased was born September 29, 1837, on the ocean. Her parents, Michael Peter and Margaret Peter were both born In Germany. She was married December 24, 1853, to Peter P. Keepes, at Mount Carmel. Her husband died several years ago.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Margaret Brust, St. Sebastian; Mrs. Mary Fearheiley, of Bellmont, and Frank Keepes, at home. Surviving also are two brothers, George and .Michael Peter and one sister, Mrs, Margaret Frederlch, of this city. '

Deceased children are Mrs, Elizabeth Buchanan, Anna C. Keepes and an Infant son.

Mrs. Keepes had spent all her life In Wabash County. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Funeral service will be held from the St. Sebastian Catholic Church on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, In charge of Rev. Brumleye, and burial will be In the St. Sebastian Cemetery.
