Dorothy Mae Houger, age 84 of Aitkin died Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Aitkin Health Services in Aitkin, Minnesota. Dorothy was born December 20, 1922 at St. Cloud, Minnesota to John and Ann (Kortem) Glaiden.

She attended school in Osakis graduating from the Osakis High School in 1941. She married Aldyn Houger on October 31, 1942 in Osakis. After marriage they spent most of their time living in Minneapolis, then moved to Aitkin in 1977. During WWII she worked as an airplane parts inspector. She then worked as a dental assistant. She was known for her outstanding soprano voice, singing solos and duets with her husband Aldyn. She was also known for her excellent homemaking skills of cooking and baking. She also had a very friendly, talkative, cheerful personality. She attended the Westside Church in Aitkin.

She is survived by 3 children and spouses: Dennis and Marilyn Houger of Robbinsdale, Mn.; Lynda Aitkin of Minneapolis; Dale and Nancy Houger of Osseo, Mn.; 5 grandchildren: Samuel (Hannah) Houger; Joseph Aitkin; Jason Aitkin; Rebecca (Nick) Worrell; Andrew Houger; 2 step grandchildren: James Foley, Joy Olson; 2 great grandchildren: Kailei Houger and Kaleb Houger; cousin: Mildred Gjertson of Brainerd; sister in law: Dorothy Nan Houger of Park Rapids, Mn. and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Aldyn, 1 sister: Helen Schmitt and 1 brother Don Glaiden.

Dorothy's family would like to thank Reverend Dallas Smith, Westside Church, and her friends Elaine, Esther, and Mark.

Memorials are preferred to Feed The Children Charity in lieu of flowers. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the 1:00P.M., Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Westside Church, Aitkin. Reverend Dallas Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Aitkin. Arrangements are by Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.
