Henry was born in New Florence, Missouri to Peter and Mary Virginia (Hoss) Davault. He lived most of his life in New Florence, moving his family to Bayard in April of 1901. His son, William Peter DeVault had changed the spelling of his surname to "DeVault" when he was a young man. Henry and family moved to Bayard to be near his son, William Peter DeVault who had lived in Bayard since 1888. I believe Henry and family changed the spelling of their surname to "DeVault" at that time.
