DR. N. F. WETMORE

In Washington, D. C., early Monday morning, March 15, 1926, at the home of his son, occurred the death of Dr. Nelson Franklin Wetmore after an illness covering the past several months.

Dr. Wetmore was a son of the late Nelson A., and Sally A. Robinson Wetmore, and was born in the town of Canadice, N. Y., in June, 1850, where he spent his early years. After completing his early education, part of which he received in Naples Academy, he entered a medical college; upon graduation he began the practice of his profession at North Cohocton, where he remained a short time. He then went to Iowa, and later to North Freedom, Wisconsin, where he remained for eighteen years. In the later years of the life of Sitting Bull, Dr. Wetmore prescribed for this famous Sioux Indian chief, having been called in consultation by the physician in charge of the reservation in Dakota. Later Dr. Wetmore became interested in Christian Science, and for a number of years had been a practitioner in that faith.

Having frequently visited his brother, Edwin H. Wetmore, in Napes and at Canandaigua lake, Dr. Wetmore was quite well known in this vicinity. While residing in Wisconsin, he joined the Masonic fraternity, which membership he retained until the time of his death.

While a resident of North Cohocton he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Woodworth, who died in Los Angeles, Calf., where they had gone for her health, about ten years ago. Deceased is survived by two sons, Alexander, of Washington, D.C. and William, of Meridian, Miss. Other survivors are three brothers, Edwin H. Wetmore, of Naples; J. Riley Wetmore, of Buffalo, and James C. Wetmore, of Alhambra, Calif.; also two sisters, Mrs. Frances Secor, of Webster Groves, Mo., and Mrs. Lindsley Adams, of Buffalo.

Funeral services were held yesterday from the home of his son in Washington, and next week the urn containing his ashes will be buried in Clearview Cemetery, North Cohocton, by the side of his wife and daughter.

Naples Record.
