Dale Sasseen, 87, died doing what he loved, snowmobiling. He was born on February 21, 1922, in Udall, MO to Earl and Maude Sasseen. Raised in Missouri, Dale enlisted in the Army - Air Force 8th Division in October of 1942, honorably discharged in 1946. On July 7, 1943, Dale married Edith Huse in Mountain Home, AR, making their first home in Shreveport, LA. Dale and Edith moved to Peshastin in 1946, to make their home. He worked as an orchardist. In 1956, he began working for Peshastin Box and Lumber, until his retirement in 1984. He and Edith enjoyed camping with friends, and their retired lives together, until her death in 2005. Dale loved his grandkids immensely and many of you have met him through his support of their events. There isn't one of our kids' friends who didn't know or enjoy "our grandpa." His story telling mode for his life experiences, always ended in laughter and a smile. Dale spent a great portion of his life outdoors. His love for camping, snowmobiling, jeeping and ATV's, took him many places. At 87 years old, he was always snowmobiling or on an ATV at least weekly and enjoyed every minute of it. Dale started his day almost every morning with his coffee crew at "Barney's." He enjoyed getting together with his friends and the special attention and friendship he received from Gary and Ginger Graves and the whole crew at Barney's.
Dale is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Jim McGinnis of East Wenatchee; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Linda Sasseen of Cashmere; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Wanda Sasseen of Missouri; four grandchildren, Shami Sasseen, Shayne Sasseen, Tanya Coe and Brett Sasseen; and two great-grandchildren, Calvin and Juliet Watson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son,Kenneth D. Sasseen; his wife, Edith; brother, Ray; and sister, Earlene.
A Funeral Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Dale will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., at the Peshastin United Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to the Chelan County Search and Rescue at 401 Washington Street, 1st level, Wenatchee, WA 98801 or Kittitas County Search and Rescue at KCSR, P.O. Box 1494, Ellensburg, WA 98926. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
