Bill passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010 at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. He was born on August 11, 1934 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Willie Robert Brown and Dollie Shaw Brown. He worked at Russell Corp's. #6 Mill for 26 years, drove a school bus for Coosa County Board of Education for 9 years, worked as a deputy with the Coosa County Sheriff's Office for 3 years was a rural letter carrier for over 20 years.
Rev. Brown also served as State Chaplain and National Board Member of the Rural Letter Carriers' Association. He served as Vice President and President of the Letter Carriers' Association in Washington, DC for 5 years. He has worked at Radney Funeral Home since 1995.
Bro. Bill was a Baptist minister, accepting the call to ministry in 1970. He served as Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Old Providence Baptist Church, Concord Baptist Church, Oaks Chapel Baptist Church, West End Baptist Church and Ray Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and loved to make others happy.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Barbara Mann Brown of Equality; son, Phillip Dale Brown (Geri) of Equality; grandsons, Steven Kyle Brown and Dalton Trey Brown; sisters, Maydelle Autry (A.C.) of Prattville, Elea Peppers (Howard) of Montgomery, Nell Flournoy (Gene) of Shorter and Marie Woodfin (Wayne) of Alexander City; brothers, Edward Brown (Mary) and Earl Brown (Melinda), all of Equality and brother-in-law, Neil Reddish of Phenix City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Alicia Jean Brown; son, Robert Steven Brown and sister, Adell Reddish.
