Edgar Thomas Roberts, 67 died at the home of his daughter Mrs J. Rulon Morgan of 128 East Center street, Wednesday February 16th. He had been suffering from a heart ailment for the past five years.
Born in Salt Lake City on May 15, 1876 he was a son of Thomas H and Sodonie Bunot Roberts. He married Ida L. Child on October 20, 1897 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. temple. Following the marriage, Mr and Mrs Roberts served a three year mission for the L.D.S. Church in the Samoan Islands.
Upon his return, Mr Roberts entered the mercantile business with his father in Afton. In 1916 he moved to Paul, Idaho, and later operated grocery stores in Burley and Twin Falls.
In 1935 they moved to Oakland California for Mrs Roberts health. Two years later they returned to Provo and have resided here since. at the time of his death he was a high priest in the Provo Fifth L.D.S. ward church.
Surviving besides his widow are one son and one daughter, Theodore C. Roberts, Ogden and Mrs J. Rulon Morgan, Provo; four brothers and two sisters, Frank C. Roberts, William F. Roberts and Mrs Grace R. Reynolds of Salt Lake City; Dr H.W. Roberts of Riverside Cal. Clarence B. Roberts, Burley, Idaho and Mrs Florence R. Papworth of Afton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb 19 in the Provo Fifth ward with Bishop Frank T. Bennett officiating. Interment was in the Provo City burial park.
