The 1st Battalion Georgia Cavalry was consolidated with the 2d Battalion Georgia Cavalry, dated January 20, 1863, to form the 5th Regiment Georgia Cavalry. The 1st Battalion was composed of the following four companies: Lamar Rangers. McIntosh Cavalry. Liberty Guard.' and Liberty Independent Troop.
