James Gallagher lived in Beaver Meadows, Pennsylvania for most of his life. He was the son of Cornelius and Mary (Shovlin) Gallagher. He was prominent in the United Mine Workers, and a member of St. Mary's Church in Beaver Meadows. He died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Hugh McMonigle, with whom he resided the last two years, after an illness of several weeks.
