Private services for Forrest A. (Frosty) Gardhouse, 83, of 296 Hope Ave., a retired Ford Motor Co. foreman who died Tuesday in his home after a brief illness, were held today. McDermott-Crockett Mortuary was in charge. Mr. Gardhouse was born Jan. 7, 1893, in Palmyra, Mo., and attended La Grange College and Kirksville Business College graduating from Jim City Business College in Quincy, Ill. For two years Mr. Gardhouse taught school, leaving that profession to work on bridge and dam construction. Moving to California and Santa Barbara in 1961 in retirement he had been with Ford for 23 years. Mr. Gardhouse was a member of First Baptist Church here; the Detroit, Mich., Masonic Lodge 489; and Veterans of World War I in Santa Barbara. Surviving are his wife, Joe Etta Gardhouse; whom he married on Jan. 6, 1916, in Lewistown, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Louise Denmure of Santa Barbara; a brother, Percy H. of Farmington, Mich.; and a sister, Mrs. Clarice Korb of Troy, Mich.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends may remember the Rehabilitation Center at General Hospital.
