Ronald D. Bennett, 59, of Charleston passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 23, 2010, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Ron graduated from Sissonville High School and was a member of Northside Church of the Nazarene, where he worked and served in many positions. He had a passion for music and loved to sing. He retired as a supervisor with 33 years of service from the Charleston Sanitary Board.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray J. Bennett; grandparents, John and Ada Bennett and Wallace and Maude Rader; and his father- and mother-in-law, Gene and Mary Lou Morris.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 39 years, Gail; son, Jamie of Cross Lanes; daughter, Missy of Charleston; and a very special grandson, Bailey, who was his "little hunting and fishing buddy." He is also survived by his mother, Betty J. Bennett of Dunbar; brother, Steve and his wife, Kim, of Newburgh, Indiana; sister, Nancy Tucker of Columbus, Ohio; sister Sandy Hart and her husband, Jay, of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.

He will especially be missed by his faithful companion who never left his side, his Chihuahua, Cocoa.

Ron enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He especially loved the camping trips to Watoga State Park with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son. He loved to help the elderly and will be missed by many.

Special thanks from his wife and children go to Dr. Kelli Dumm, Dr. Justin Cohen and hospice workers, Jennifer Kirsh, Scott Casdorph, Julie Slater and Connie Boggs, and a very special thanks goes to Alicia King from hospice, who cared and spent many hours with him and gave compassion and support to his family. We will not forget any of you. God bless you all.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Northside Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Jerry Cline and the Rev. William Sheridan officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico.

Visitation with the family will be two hours prior to services on Wednesday, also at the church.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25312.
