Inscription

Per the Records of the Town of Barnstable, Mass. [NEHGS CD 2001]:

"Here lyes ye body of Mrs. Anna Baker wife of Deacon John Baker, who died March ye 21st 1732-3 aged 57 year."

Based on Anna's recorded date of birth in the Barnstable town record (Mar. 4, 1675 [-76]), Anna's gravestone should reflect that on the day she died she was then 57 years old, and Ætatis suæ (i.e., Æ, "Aged," in the XX year of her Age) 58. However, her date of birth perhaps is incorrect in the town record, and was actually Mar. 4, 1676 [-77], which would coincide with her gravestone. If so, it would not be the only example of the Barnstable town records having an incorrect date of birth for a person.
