D. A. Ragsdale, age 73, of Georgetown, formerly of Austin, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001, in Georgetown. Born December 18, 1927, in Austin, to Thomas Larkin and Ellen Eva Ragsdale.
He married Jeanne Latham, February 27, 1948, in Austin. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Navy.
Before retirement, Mr. Ragsdale was business manager and financial secretary /treasurer of Iron Workers Local Union No. 482 for 26 years. He was a member in good standing of the local union for 53 years, retiring to his family ranch in 1987.
Preceding him in death were his father, Thomas Larkin Ragsdale; mother, Ellen Eva Ragsdale; two brothers, Truman and Sanford Ragsdale.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jeanne Ragsdale of Georgetown; daughters, Judy Beth Ragsdale Cooksey and husband, David, of Georgetown, DyAnn Ragsdale of Georgetown; son, Marvin L. Ragsdale and wife, Karen, of Georgetown; grandchildren, Courtney Christ and husband, Johnie, of Cedar Park, Matthew Lucas Ragsdale Cooksey of Georgetown, Joshua Logan Ragsdale Cooksey of Georgetown, Dustin Glen Ragsdale of Georgetown, Holly Kristin Ragsdale of Georgetown; great-grandchild, Shane Liam Christ of Cedar Park; sisters, Bessie Glaser of Austin, Inez Gaines of Bastrop; brother, Albert E. Ragsdale of Georgetown; along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2001, at The Gabriels. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2001, at The Gabriels Chapel with the Reverend Bob Hahn officiating. Burial will follow at Capital Memorial Parks in Pflugerville. Pallbearers will be James Martin, Ira "June" Crofford, Eddie Cantu, Glen Ragsdale, Tommy Ragsdale, John Murray.
