Oct 1915, La Harpe, Kansas

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Burkett was born near Nevada, Missouri, 1891 [sic; should be 1894]. In the year 1897, she came to La Harpe with her parents, where she grew to womanhood. In 1908, she manifested her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by becoming a member of the Methodist Protestant church. Later, transferring her membership to the Christian Church, where she became a loyal and faithful Christian, taking a loyal and faithful part in the church and Sunday School work.

In the home life, hers was the leading spirit, being equally as enthusiastic in work as in play, and will be sadly missed by those who were sure of her sympathy, whether in time of joy or disappointment.

By her love for truth and fairness, and the careful performance of each duty, she deeply endeared herself in the hearts of many people, by whom she will be remembered, and who tender their deepest sympathy to the name so suddenly broken, in this hour of great bereavement.

Miss Burkett departed this life at 11 p.m., Oct. 25, 1915, Age 21 years, 3 months and 24 days. she leaves a mother, 5 brothers and 4 sisters, and many other relatives and a host of friends who long will mourn the loss of one so dear to them.

Funeral services were held in this city at the Christian Church, Wednesday morning. The body was laid to rest in the Moran Cemetery.

Card of Thanks

We wish to express our sincere thanks to the many friends for the kind assistance as generously given, during the illness and death of our loved ones, also for the beautiful floral offerings. Both were greatly appreciated.
