She resided in Italey from 1937 to 1945, where her maternal great-aunt, Queen Elena, was the Queen Consort, the wife of Victor Emmanuel III, King of Italey. During her stay there, she was married on September 15, 1937 in Rome to the Italian diplomat Ruggero Farace, Marchese Farace di Villaforesta. On occasion of her wedding she renounced to her succession rights to the Russian throne. Her husband was the Italian ambassador to Uruguay and it is there that they settled.
