Biography:
William and Lerona were married in Malone, NY in 1854, both aged 27. The had five children together. The first four, Mary Alzina, Ida Estelle, Pheoebe Lerona, and Edgar James* were born in NY. Their fifth child, William Wallace was born in, Nashau, Chickasaw, Iowa, where the family had relocated in the early 1860's. After farming for many years in Iowa, they retired to Grants Pass, Jackson, Oregon in the mid 1890's to be near some of their grown children. They kept a residence in town and a rustic cabin 'in the hills' where they continued to do some summer farming for many years. William passed in March of 1905 at the age of 78, Lerona in November of 1918 at the age of 91.

* The Reverend Edgar James Helms, following a different calling, went east instead of west; It was there, during the Great Depression that he founded what would become Goodwill Industries.
