Fourteen months of those years had been spent in the South Pacific, where he was with the anti-aircraft department of the heavy artillery. He wore two stars representing major engagements. He was severely wounded at Biak. He wore a purple heart indicating the order of the Purple Heart. He and his brother had spent Christmas of 1943 together in Australia. Survivors include his father and stepmother; two brothers; one sister.
