Called to IL by Death
Mr. & Mrs. Loren Dunbar and members of their family received a message of the death of Mr. and Mrs. Dunbar's grandson, Stephen Loren Dunbar, on Sun., Sept 17. The baby, who was the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dunbar of near Galesburg, IL, was a year old the day he died. He had been ill with the flu, which developed into pneumonia. Mrs. and Mrs. Loren Dunbar left the following Monday for Galesburg, by bus, from Adel; and Mrs. Hazel Hummel of near Adel, Tony Dunbar of near Greenfield, Percy Dunbar of near Grimes, and Bert Dunbar and Betty Stump and Betty's mother, all arrived there to attend the funeral that was held Wed. afternoon at the home, and burial was in Henderson Cemetery, about 2-1/2 miles from Harry Dunbar's home. Lee, Lois and Larry, three other children of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dunbar, all had the flu but are recovering. Mr. Loren Dunbar returned with his sons on Thurs. morning, but Mrs. Loren Dunbar remained for a longer stay. [Dallas Co. (IA) News, 27 Sep 1944]

Death of Stephen Dunbar
Funeral services for Stephen Morris Dunbar, year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dunbar, Wataga, IL, were held on Wednesday following his death Sunday evening at St. Mary's Hospital due to pneumonia. The services were held at his late home with the Rev. Norman, Christian Church pastor, in charge. Burial took place in the Henderson Cemetery. Stephen was born 17 Sep 1943 at the family home near Greenfield, where the family resided until moving to IL last spring. Surviving are his parents, a sister and three brothers: Lois Arlene, Howard Eugene, Larry Rae and David Lee. Tony Dunbar of Greenfield attended the funeral services of his nephew and visited his brother and family. Mrs. Vere Ayers, a neighbor of the family, received the notice of their loss.
