W. L. CADMAN, 84, PIONEER, CALLED
DAYTON, Wash., Feb. 4. Walter L. Cadman, 84, pioneer of Walla Walla and Columbia county, died at Stockton, Calif., Sunday after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at Stockton Wednesday, and following cremation his ashes will be interred in the family plot in the Walla Walla cemetery.

Born in Washington, D. C., he came west by stagecoach In 1881. He served as chief clerk in the Walla Walla land office 10 years and was court reporter and county assessor for long periods before coming to Columbia county in 1910 to engage in farming.

He was married to Annie L. Lambert, daughter of Vincent Lambert, Walla Walla, in 1885.

He served as postmaster at Dayton from 1923 to 1935, after which he retired and moved to California in 1943. He was a member of the Episcopal church.

Besides his widow, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. J. M. Lewis, Stockton, Calif.; two sons, W. E. Cadman, Seattle, and Roy M. Cadman, Dayton; a sister, Mrs. Hettle Harrington, Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
