Riley Fletcher "RF" Turner was one of the young sons of Hiram Turner and A.L.C. Williamson Turner of Carroll County who did not become a Confederate soldier during the Civil War. He was the 14-year-old farmer for his father Hiram who was ill, and Riley ran the farm throughout the war. After the war he married Mary Elizabeth Hesterly on September 19, 1866. He was the father of 10 children and settled in Meriwether County. He cared for his grandfather, Larkin Turner, until his death in 1877.
