Mrs. Henderson, 88, of Rochester, died Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2007) at Charter House.
Virginia Gordon Haskins was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Evanston, Ill., where she grew up and graduated from high school. She received a degree in French and English from Northwestern University in Evanston. On Dec. 26, 1942, she married Dr. Harold H. Scudamore in Chicago. They moved to Rochester in 1949. She taught at Aldrich Memorial Nursery School, then was a secretary at Rochester Community College. She was active in both Girl and Boy Scouts; was a tutor at the Reading Center; and was a member of PEO International and the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She moved to Monroe, Wis., in 1971, then back to Rochester in 1991. Dr. Scudamore died Dec. 15, 1994. On Nov. 28, 1996, she married Lowell Henderson. She was a member of the Charter House Board and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and enjoyed cultural events and golf.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Susan (Charlie) Hurt of River Falls, Wis.; three sons, James (Judy) Scudamore of Pittsburg, Kan., and Gordon (Sharon) Scudamore and Walter (Julie) Scudamore, both of Rochester; seven grandchildren; 17 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Grigsby of Castro Valley, Calif.; and three stepdaughters, Marilyn (Bob) Gehrman of Long Lake, Minn., Beverly (Roger) Nelson of Rochester and Sue Henderson of Albia, Iowa.
