Rogersville: Victor Claude Dykes, Sr., age 81 of Rogersville, passed away, Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his residence. He was retired from Holston Defense after 25 years of service and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Dykes was preceded in death by his son, Mark Dykes; parents, Eldridge C. and Gertha Bussell Dykes; sister, Dorothy Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Vergie Parvin Dykes; daughter, Hope Stewart and husband, Lee of Raleigh, NC; sons, Victor Dykes, Jr. of the home, Chris Dykes of Rogersville; grandchildren, Amy S. Dykes, Jared Stewart and Lindsey Stewart; great-granddaughter, Abby Dykes; brother, Rholan Dykes and wife, Emma of Rogersville; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Funeral service will be conducted 7:00 P.M., Sunday, August 22, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Riley Jones officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 23, 2010 at Highland Cemetery.
