CHAPMAN, Vella Kincaid, 90, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 1998. She was the widow of Lawrence C. Chapman. Surviving include a sister-in-law, Helen C. Counts of Abingdon; niece, Eleanor O. Bailey; also surviving are a daughter and husband, two grandchildren and their spouses, five great grandchildren.
Grandmother passed away while on vacation with the family. At 90 years old she still lived on her own. She worked up until her 80's doing income taxes in her home. I can still hear the old adding machine going to this day.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, watching Johnny Carson and politics. I remember one time trying to teach her how to blow a bubble with bubble gum. She never could get it.
She would be so proud of her family now. I wish she could have met her great great grandchildren, she would have adored them.
I miss you grandmother, I just with I could hear one more time you answer "hooo" when I called for you.
