Berneice McBath
Berneice (Barklow) McBath, 91, of Wallowa, died Dec. 6, 2003, at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 5, 1912 to Bill and Tishey (Roberts) Barklow on her grandparent's ranch on Lone Pine.
After attending Lone Pine Grade School, she graduated from Wallowa High School in 1930. She married Tom McBath in 1931. Berneice loved to sew and quilt, serving as president of the quilters' guild for a time, during which the guild presented Gov. Hatfield with a handmade quilt. Oil painting was also a favorite hobby, and she was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Deloris and Al Thomas of La Grande, Beth and Doug Payton of Halfway, and Patricia Smith of Wallowa; brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Irene Barklow of Wallowa; sister and brother-in-law Esther and Jess Tuell of Enterprise; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents; a son, Thomas; a brother, William; a sister, Katherine; and a grandson, Travis Prince.
Funeral services were held Dec. 9, 2003, at the Wallowa Christian Church with interment following at Wallowa Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Deavers Eye Clinic or the charity of the giver's choice, care of the Bollman Funeral Home.Verla Berneice (nee Barklow) m. 17 Oct 1931, Wallowa Co., OR., Thomas Leroy McBath.
