Born in 1787 in Pennsylvania. Esau died in Harrison County, Kentucky on December 4, 1870, he was 83. Buried in Old Salem Cemetery. War of 1812.

1850 Census - District 2, Nicholas County, page 419 - Esau gave his birth place as Pennsylvania.

Esau and Nancy lived with their son Minor in their later years. They are buried at old Salem cemetery. They are listed on the 1870 Harrison County census.

At one time, according to the 1850 Nicholas County census, Esau lived with his daughter Rebecca and her family. He was listed as being blind. In reading his pension application, it stated that as a youth Esau suffered a cut on his eyebrow that to him was disfiguring enough to wear an eyepatch. There apparently was not a problem with his sight in this eye. During his service time he developed an infection and lost the sight of the eye. In later years he lost the sight of the other eye while chopping wood. He applied for a full pension but this was denied because it was not service related.

Esau was one of the original settlers in Nicholas County in the community of Ellisville, the original county seat. They supposedly lived on the old buffalo trace road.

In September 1805 when Esau was 18, he married Nancy Combs, daughter of Joseph Combs, in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Born in 1784 in Virginia. Nancy died in Harrison County, Kentucky. Buried in Old Salem Cemetery. Was on the census for Indiana household of son Henry in 1850. They had the following children:

Jesse/ (on 1840 census for Nicholas Co, KY)
Rebecca/1808
Henry Harrison/1812
Mason/1817
Minor/1819
William Beuford/1820
