In 1925, the couple moved to Rotan where William Bickerstaff entered the real estate business. Both are members of the Church of Christ.

Her father died when she was 11 months of age. The man she knew as her father was J.S. Hamilton, to whom her mother was married in Olney, Texas when she was three years old.
