Rosella Stooksbury
Retired Clinton banker


Rosella Stooksbury, 69, of Clinton, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls after a short illness with leukemia, one day before her 70th birthday.Mrs. Stooksbury was retired after many years as a banker with Third National Bank in Clinton, now SunTrust.

She was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Anderson County, the daughter of John Bell and Thelma Melton Tindell. She was the widow of R.C. Stooksbury, who died in May.

Mrs. Stooksbury was a member of Sinking Springs United Methodist Church in Clinton.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Chambers and her husband, Rusty, of Clinton; her brother, Jack Tindell and his wife, Norma, of Clinton; her grandchildren, Allison Chambers and Daniel Chambers, both of Clinton; and an aunt she considered special, Wilma Kitts of Andersonville.

Mrs. Stooksbury is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ruby Nelson and her husband Ray, of Clinton, Frankie Dean Sexton and Hazel Pitts, both of Norris, and Bernice Schaeffer of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; her brothers-in-law, Bobby Stooksbury and his wife, Jane, Allen Stooksbury and his wife, Betty, and Bill Stooksbury and his wife, Barbara, all of Andersonville, Earl Stooksbury of Oak Ridge and Dallas Stooksbury and his wife, Jessie, of Clinton; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, her son, Dan Stooksbury, another sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Blondell Wade and Lon Stooksbury Jr., died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Catherine Nance officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Norris to proceed to the graveside service at Norris Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Greg Tindell, Leo Warwick, Howard Worde, Bill Alley, Allen Stooksbury and Gerald Stooksbury.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
