Final Rites Held
In Shawmut For
Mrs. J. N. Humphrey

The Shawmut community lost one of the most beloved women, Sunday with the passing of Mrs. J. N. Humphrey, 72, long-time resident, and widley known in the Valley. A large assemblage of friends were present at the Methodist church Monday, to pay a final tribute to the dead.

The rites were conducted by the Rev. McCoy Guthrie, assisted by the Rev. Hoyt Ayers. Mrs. Humphrey's membership was in the Metodist churc at Red Ridge.

She was born in Tallapoosa County, March 29, 1868, moving with her family to Shawmut soon after the village was established. For may years, until her helath declines, she wass active in church work, and was always neighbor and friend to scores of Shawmut people.

The survivors include her husband and five children: Mrs. Annie Mae Williamson, Mrs. Charles Davis, Mrs. Ely Gullatt, and A. M. Humphrey, all of Shawmut; Jess Humphrey, of Birmingham; also a sister, Mrs. Robert Hummphrey, of LaFayette, R. F. D.

Burial was in Shawmut, conducted by Johnson and Company.
