She was part of the Scots/Presbyterian migration from VA to NC,in ealy 1800's. Family settled in Alamance Co., NC, where she met her future husband Wm. Lewis when he was paroled from a Union POW camp (Pt. Lookout, VA) in Jan., 1865 and assigned to a CSA railroad repair shop in nearby Greensboro. After they married in 1866 they moved to St. Louis, like so many Southerners after the war's devastation.
