Obituary from Boone County Journal:

Services for Alfred Henry Beckmeyer, 94, of Hartsburg will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg with burial following. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20 at the church.

Mr. Beckmeyer was born on June 1, 1911, in Hoyleton, Ill., the son of William and Sophia Woker Beckmeyer. They died at an early age, leaving him to be raised by an uncle, Ed, and aunt, Carrie, in Washington, Mo. He married Erna Marie Wintermeyer on July 23, 1936, at Freidens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Hartsburg, and she survives.

Mr. Beckmeyer was a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Agriculture. He taught Vo-Ag in Greenville, Mo., for four years and then moved to Hartsburg to farm until his retirement in 1980. He was a longtime member of Peace United Church of Christ and a charter member of the Hartsburg Lions Club. He was active in county and state farm bureaus and was the past president of the Southern Boone County School Board. He died on July 18, 2005, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Erna; two sons and their wives, Orion and Barbara Beckmeyer and Glen and Linda Beckmeyer, all of Hartsburg; one daughter, Janet Nassiri, of Los Angeles, Calif.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Owen, and his wife, Irene, of Bay Village, Ohio; one sister, Corrine Murray, of St. Charles, Ill.; one special cousin, Anna Tate, of Gaitherburg, Md.; and one sister-in-law, Betty Beckmeyer, of North Port, Fla.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys, who died as a teenager; one brother-in-law, Earl Murray; and three special cousins, Dorothea Beckmeyer, Esther Bierman and Edward "Bud" Beckmeyer.

Memorial contributions are to Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg. Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
