Roy- Ray L. Alvey, 72, returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah. As always, he was surrounded by family and friends.

He was born December 16, 1930 in Escalante, Utah, a son of Samuel James and Sariah Haws Alvey. Ray was the youngest of 10 children. He graduated from Escalante High School in 1949. He later attended Utah Technical School and Weber College.

Ray married LuDeen Anderson on July 14, 1954 in the Manti LDS Temple. LuDeen passed away March 17, 1974. He married Sylvia Manning on July 20, 1974 in the Ogden LDS Temple.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) where he was a High Priest in the Roy 15th Ward. He served in many callings including Ward and Stake Financial Clerk.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army.

He worked as a building contractor for 45 years. He started Ray Alvey Construction, building some of the finest homes. He served as President of the Weber Basin Home Builders Association and the Roy City Planning Commission.

Surviving are his wife, Sylvia, of Roy; children, Scott (Debbie) Titensor, and JoAnne Titensor, both of Roseville, CA; Kristi (Scott) Wiggins, West Valley City; LeeAnne (Ryan) Christensen, Roy; Lane Ray Alvey, Ft. Myers, FL; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister; and one brother, Wanda Hansen, Kaysville; and Arnold (Deon) Alvey, Escalante, UT.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, LuDeen, his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Roy South Stake Center, 5725 South 3750 West.

Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Stake Center from 9 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
