Mrs. Gordon Shumpert, 78, died June 8, 1956 at the home of her son, Chastain Shumpert in the Evergreen Community. The funeral services were conducted June 9, 1956 at New Chapel Methodist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Nabors Funeral Home was in charge.
Survivors included her husband; two sisters, Miss Gertie Boozer of Fulton and Mrs. Louella Rutledge of Fulton; three sons, Chastain, Leslie and Swept Shumpert, all of Evergreen; three daughters, Mrs. H. C. Green and Mrs. Sam Mullen, both of Tupelo and Mrs. Alver Fancher of Evergreen.
Pallbearers were Dale Shumpert, Haskell Shumpert, O. L. Shumpert, Durie Rutledge, Stacy Rutledge, Burlie Gregory and Robert Hall.
