BATH, S.C. - Mr. Jack M. Adkison, 76, of Bath, SC, son of the late Ficklin 'Buddy' and Lucy Hudgins Adkison, entered into rest Saturday, August 21st, 2010, with his loving and devoted wife of forty eight years Glenda Boyd Adkison at his side. Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a retired Organizer and Representative with the Painters Local #1730 and the Roofers Local #176, having spent twenty years with each. He was a former member of Gloverville First Baptist Church where he was a RA Director leading the Boys baseball team to a state championship in the 1950's. Currently he was a member of Langley First Baptist Church where he was formerly chairman of the deacons and Sunday School Director. He was formerly chairman of the building and grounds committees at both Gloverville and Langley. A Korean War Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Douglas H. Fox. Jack spent countless hours searching for his brother, Sgt. Harold F. Adkison, a United States Army Ranger, who was presumed missing in action in Korea. He was instrumental in the organizing of the Horse Creek-Midland Valley Veterans Park, where he served as fundraising chairman for eleven years. Jack was chairman Emeritus of the Sgt. Harold F. Adkison Korean War Veterans Association. In addition to his wife and parents, family members include sons, Chris Adkison, (Sara) Clearwater, SC and Rev. Brian Adkison, (Jan) Langley, SC; sisters, Gladys Morgan, Bath, SC and the late Thelma Fedeles, (George) brothers, the late Charlie Adkison, (the late Irene) the late Roy Adkison (the late Mattie) and Sgt. Harold F. Adkison, M.I.A. Korea; grandchildren, Luke, Jake, Hannah and Joshua Adkison, brother-in-laws, the late Clayton Boyd, the late Russell Boyd and late J.B. Morgan., sister-in-laws, Joan and Dorothy Boyd and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Luke Adkison, Russell Boyd, Jr., Chris Jones, Gregg Cato, Ronnie Hammett, Danny Jenkins and Hector Rodriguez. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the former RA baseball team at Gloverville First Baptist Church that Jack coached and the Korean War Veterans Association.
