"Maggie" arrived in Mason City with her parents in March of 1882 during the family's move from Rockford, IL. Miss Long taught school in Mason City for a number of years before her marriage to John E. Baker in 1891.

After their marriage the couple lived in a large two-story home on 1st Street SE which would be their life-long residence except for five years spent in Clear Lake. Maggie died in this home at the age of 73, six years after her husband's passing. [John J. Long]
