Andrew was the son of David L. and Phebe Ann (Van Cleve) Titus of Lawrence Twp., Mercer Co., NJ. He was baptized at Pennington Presbyterian Church, Pennington, NJ, May 1839. He married Jennie Cunningham on 11 Oct. 1863.

He was listed as a farmer in 1850. He was later a commission merchant in Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ, 1880; and in Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY, 1900.
