George D. Garver, 69, of De Soto, formerly of Herculaneum, died Aug. 7, 2009, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City. Mr. Garver was a retired laborer with General Motors and a member of Boy Scouts of America.

Born Feb. 22, 1940, in Broseley, he was the son of the late William Oscar and Edith (Warren) Garver.

He is survived by his wife, Doris (Talcott) Garver; one daughter, Stephanie (David) White of Lake St. Louis; two sons: William (Barbara) Garver of Festus and David (Jennifer) Garver of Herculaneum; one half brother, Curtis Boyer of Flint, Mich.; and six grandchildren: Drew Garver, Derrick Garver, Allen Garver, Phebe Garver, Thomas Garver and Courtney Garver.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Burial was in Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley. Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
