DENISON - Services for Vernice (Atnip) McGough-Honeycutt, 81, of Denison, Texas, who passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Southside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2005 at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Borger, Texas with Rev. Robert Hensley officiating. There will be a visitation and viewing at the graveside 30 minutes before the interment. Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born on April 14, 1924 in Howe, Texas, the daughter of James and Lena (Garner) Atnip. After being raised in Denison, she married E.O. McGough on December 9, 1942 and they moved to Borger, Texas where they lived for 50 years. Mr. McGough preceded her in death on December 28, 1992. She later married Guy Honeycutt on May 3, 2002. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2003. She loved to go dancing at the Senior Citizens Center and she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Russell McGough and wife Doracy of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Sandra Moore and husband, David of Weatherford, Texas; son, Ronnie McGough and wife, Linda of Arlington, Texas; stepson, Roger Honeycutt and wife, Michelle of Denison, Texas; stepdaughter, Darla James and husband, Chuck of Oklahoma; sister, Fannie Hopper of San Antonio, Texas; and half brother, Joe Atnip of Tennessee. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family night will be Friday, October 7, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
