Mary E. Austin, 56, of Varna died on the grounds of the Southeast Texas Fair, Beaumont, TX at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, October 20. 1983.
She was co-owner of Midway Concessions, which travels from fair to fair around the country.
Born January 15, 1927 in Lacon to George and June Kear Johnson Newell, she married Marion F. Austin on June 1, 1947 in Varna.
Surviving are her husband; one son, Dale, and one daughter, Patricia Nolan, both of Varna; three grandchildren; two brothers Oliver Johnson of Varna and George Newell of Tremont; four sisters, Florence Gerjets of Spring Valley, Esther Mattern of Princeton, Mildred Hodges of Peoria and Sharon Monks of Washington. Her parents, one daughter, one granddaughter and two sisters preceded her in death.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Robert Pries Funeral Home in Lacon, where visitation was from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. The Rev. L. J. McNemee officiated and burial was in First Lutheran Church Cemetery #2.
