Daughter of the late Thomas Newman and Lunda Jane Frady Campbell, she was the widow of Willie B. Ponder. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church. She was survived by her son, Norman S. Ponder (Connie); daughter, Angula Franklin (Curtis); grandchildren, Dean Ponder (Miriam), Cindy Painter (Stand) Christine Wallace (David), Scot Franklin (Arni) and Tara Jenness (Wayne); nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Warrren Campbell. Her graveside services were held on Janaury 25, 2008, with William R. West officiating.
