Alan Francis LaForce, 67, of Richmond went to be with the Lord Aug. 19, 2010, surrounded by his family. Alan was born in Shelburne April 7, 1943, the son of Earl and Waneta (Dustin) LaForce. On Nov. 30, 1963, he married Betty Deforge in Shelburne.

Alan is survived by his loving wife, Betty, of 47 years. He was the proud father of four sons, Todd and wife, Laure, of Jeffersonville, Steve and wife, Laurie, of Westford, Scott and friend, Terry, and her daughter, Shelby, and Glen of Suwanee, Ga. He leaves his "treasured angels" his grandchildren, Regan, Sarah, Chelsea, Danielle, Julie, Morgan and Tyler. He also leaves behind his brother, Raymond and wife, Betty, of Lady Lake, Fla.; and a sister, Janet and husband, Ernest Oakes, of The Villages, Fla. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Clarence Deforge of South Burlington; brothers-in-law, Robert Deforge and wife, Tisa, of East Fallowfield, Pa., Gary Deforge and his wife, Bonnie, of South Burlington, Kenneth Deforge and his wife, Donna, of Shelburne, Gerry Deforge of Henderson, Nev.; his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hollinger and her husband, Andy, of South Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews and his constant companion, Angel. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Maitland and Clifford LaForce; and his mother-in-law, Helen Deforge; and sister-in-law, Marie Deforge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Aug. 21, 2010 at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, South Burlington with interment to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery, South Burlington.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington.
