THE VILLAGES, FLA. — ARMAGOST – Betty Ruth, 89, The Villages, Fla., formerly of Hooversville, passed at home, while in the loving arms of her children, Sept. 6, 2013.
She was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Stonycreek Township, daughter of Paul and Alverta (Miller) Zeigler. Preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 47 years, Charles "Stormy" Blair Armagost Jr.; and brother, Mervin "Bill" Zeigler.
Betty is survived by daughters, Charlene Potochar, The Villages, Fla., and Gayle Armagost, Hooversville; son, Karl M. "Stormy" Armagost, married to former Susan M. Parsel, The Villages, Fla.; grandchildren, Raynice J. Wroblewski, and husband, Sean, McMurray; Casey R. Maschue, Hooversville; and Damon B. Armagost, Clarksville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Jason R. and Christopher C. Wroblewski, McMurray, and Zander B. Svendsen, White House, Tenn.; brothers and sisters, Ray Zeigler, Somerset; Virginia Shultz, Berlin; Ronald (Gay) Zeigler, Boynton; and Marsha (James) Boozer, Central City; sister-in-law, Katherine Zeigler, Stoystown; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was a proud veteran of World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1944 to 1946. She honored her country as an aircraft mechanic. She also worked in the garment industry to help put her kids through college. Betty was a member of Hooversville United Methodist Church and Somerset American Legion. In 2006, Betty moved from Hooversville to The Villages, Fla.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Mark Blair, officiating. Interment, P.O.S. of A. Cemetery, Hooversville. Graveside military rites by Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in Betty's name to the Hospice of Marion County Inc., 3231 S.W. 34th Ave., Ocala, Fla. 34474.
